YIA was requested to be a part of the massive beach and environment cleaning project, by the local government of the areas.
The beaches and other environmental areas were severely destructed due to the excessive pollution in the area by the living population.
Our team took the task of joining hands with others in clean-up of the beach and other surrounding areas.
Our focus during the project was not only clean the environment, because this would not be sustainable as we could not take a recurring work of cleaning the areas whenever it got dirty. Hence, we aimed at educating all the locals on the issue of beach destruction and environmental pollution and its long-term impacts. We were able to educate the residents and made them acknowledge their irresponsibility, and finally were able to get them clean the environment with us.
We worked in areas around Mbezi beach and Salendar Bridge.
